Public letter from the Co-Chairs of the APPG to the King of Bahrain

The Co-Chairs of the APPG wrote to His Majesty Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain in December 2015. They wrote in order to express concern over the death sentences passed on Bahraini citizens Mohamed Ramadan and Hussain Moosa which were confirmed by the Bahrain Court of Cassation on 16 November 2015. This means that the accused have exhausted their appeals, and that their only chance of the death sentences being overturned is through Royal Pardon. Both have claimed that their confessions in front of the Public Prosecutor were obtained following torture and duress. The letter follows submissions from the United Nations which in 2014 which raised serious concerns to your Majesty’s government regarding this case and can be read in full here.
